Cleaning and Storage Tips for Jewelry

by Carol Boniuk on Dec 02, 2024
Caring for and cleaning your jewelry is simple! To clean your Diamond Dream jewelry, make a solution using about I cup warm water (not hot) and several drops of dishwasher liquid. Soak your jewelry in this solution for 3-5 minutes then rinse with warm water and wipe clean with a microfiber towel Use a soft bristle toothbrush to gently get inside the back of rings if needed Store your jewelry in a safe, dry place away from direct sunlight that is secure Remove your diamond jewelry before showering so shampoos and other chemicals combined with heat don’t affect your jewelry Don’t use harsh chemicals such as bleach, chlorine, kitchen cleaners or any types of solvents to clean your jewelry Remove your jewelry when gardening or doing household cleaning Don’t exercise with your jewelry on as heavy weights can cause damage to the metals Don’t use jewelry cleaners as some of them contain very strong ingredients Leave your ring on in a public restroom to wash your hands! (I took my ring off to wash my hands and forget it in a public restroom in a Las Vegas casino once, hence the mention here)! PRO TIP: If you’re cleaning your new jewelry near a sink, be sure to block the drain and place a cloth over it…just to be on the safe side! Wet jewelry can be slippery! Your ring should be the last thing you put on before you leave your house and the first thing you remove. Always store your ring in the same place, preferrable away from other jewelry to avoid scratching.

Do These Six Things to Take Care of Your Jewelry

by Carol Boniuk on Dec 02, 2024
Your jewelry is one of the most cherished possessions. When you know how to care and protect your precious Pendants, it can extend its life. This blog shares with you six caring tips for your jewelry. Jewelry is one of your most precious belonging. It’s not only expensive, but it also has significant sentimental value. You would never want your custom pendants or engagement rings to tarnish. If you don’t take adequate care of your jewelry, it may soon require a repair or even a replacement. Below Are the 6 Caring Tips for Your Jewelry: Simple Cleaning Is The Best You may think that expensive solvents and cleaners are the best to clean your gold cross pendants and sterling silver heart pendants. But that’s not true as such solvents may contain harmful ingredients. Instead, the simple cleaning method is ideal. All you need is warm soapy water, a soft-bristled brush, and a soft cloth to pat dry your jewelry. It’s best to clean the items once or twice in a month, depending on your usage. Protect Your Jewelry From Heat And Light You wouldn’t want your exotic fashion necklace sets to lose its shine over time. As the sun’s heat can hurt your skin, it can cause damage to your jewelry too. Excess heat and light from the sun or artificial objects can cause discoloration. It may also damage pearls, gemstones, or other delicate materials in your jewelry. Thus, avoid the sun’s exposure to your jewelry. Safeguard Your Jewelry From Chemicals  When your precious jewelry gets exposed to various chemicals, it can lead to severe damage. Your jewelry may turn dark or start losing its original color. Note that, everyday items like perfumes, hairspray, or lotions contain numerous chemicals. Some of which can permanently damage the surface of your jewelry. Thus, don’t let your delicate jewelry get exposed to any chemicals.   Do Not Sleep In Your Jewelry You might be able to sleep in your jewelry with no discomfort. But doing so is not at all advisable. Jewelry design experts say that sleeping in your jewelry can either harm you or your fashion jewelry. You might end up breaking a chain or twisting a prong and lose the stone. Therefore, you should take off your jewelry before bed. You can always put it on the next morning. Wear Your Jewelry Last, Take It Off First You should always remember this one rule of wearing jewelry: you should put your jewelry on last, and always take it off first before changing clothes or going to bed. If you apply cosmetics after wearing the jewelry, then it can dirty your pieces. Also, when you take off clothes before jewelry, it can get tangled or even damaged. Lay Pearls Flat  If you have custom made Gemstone pendants or any other pearl items, there are few things you should be doing. E.g., you might hang your pearls jewelry or stick it in a box after you take it off. But that’s not the right way to store your pearls. Instead, you should always keep your pearl items flat. It prevents the silk thread from stretching. Also, be sure to restring your pearl jewelry every few years.  All Things Considered Those were the six things you should take care of your jewelry. You must keep your jewelry protected from any heat and chemicals. Keep in mind to wear your jewelry last and take it off first. Also, remember cleaning your jewelry regularly to extend its life.
